Your description of the Council’s Customer Relationship Management system is very impressive and the administration is to be congratulated in their efforts to address customer enquiries and complaints. However, I regret, my experience does not reflect the objectives of the system. On many occasions I have requested a service or made specific complaints, in what I consider is a clear and certainly non-demanding way. On too many occasions there has been no acknowledgement or answer to these contacts and only after repeated attempts a response is forthcoming. Even then there is feeling of negativity and the officers don’t seem to be looking for solutions that might go some way to addressing the concerns. Some officers are excellent while others are very disappointing and I question their value of their customers. Having been in local government all my life I know of the constraints of funds, policy, legislation, NIMBY, etc.etc but I don’t think I get honesty in a lot of occasions. If I were asked what my level of satisfaction is with East Lothian Council in written requests and complaints, I would say about 25% !!!!!
